American violinist Adam Wu was born into a musical family in Houston. His father is a renowned luthier of international reputation and his mother was a professional ballerina. Adam began violin lessons with his father at the age of four, after showing an interest in music.

Before long, young Adam began studies under former University of Houston Professor Fredell Lack. At the age of 13, Adam was accepted by the Juilliard School of Music’s pre-college division, further studying the violin with Professor Masao Kawasaki.

He would later leave after a year, and study under former Dallas Symphony concertmaster Emanuel Borok until he was accepted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore; where he studied with Thibaud competition winner Professor Qian Zhou and current BBC Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Igor Yuzefovich.

After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from YST, Adam returned to the United States to pursue his masters degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston. During his time there, he studied under Borromeo String Quartet violinist Kristopher Tong.

Adam has won top prizes in competitions like the Lynn Harrell Competition, Houston Symphony Concerto Competition, and Kingsville International Competition. Over the years on the concert stages of the United States and abroad, Adam has collaborated as a soloist with artists and conductors such as Jaap Van Zweden, Robert Franz and Zheng Xiao-Ying; performing concerts with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, and Xiamen Philharmonic in China.
