Jaewon Kim
Jaewon Kim joined the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal/E-flat clarinet in December 2022. Previously, he held the same position with the Omaha Symphony for six years. He also served as 2nd/E-flat clarinet with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra for their 2019-2020 season.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Jaewon immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 and began taking clarinet and piano lessons with Victoria Marra and Judson Billings. After graduating from the Interlochen Arts Academy, he went on to receive degrees from the Glenn Gould School and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His primary teachers were Joaquin Valdepeñas, Franklin Cohen, and Michael Rusinek.
Jaewon has appeared as a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival Orchestra. In addition, he has performed as a member of the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and was a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival.
