Jaime An
Born in Saratoga, California, Jaime An began studying cello at the age of 10 under Jihee Kim. As a young cellist, she won top prizes in the American Fine Arts Festival Concerto Competition, US Open String Division, and MTNA Competition. She received her undergraduate degrees in Cello Performance and Psychology from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music where she studied with Hans Jorgen Jensen. She then began pursuing her Master’s degree at Northwestern University in 2022 as the recipient of the Helen Heim Nichols Scholarship. Recently, she performed the Barber Cello Concerto with the Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra as the winner of their 2021 Concerto and Aria Competition.
While at Northwestern, Jaime played in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as co-principal cellist and was also the Assistant Principal of the Peoria Symphony in 2022. She has attended many festivals as a scholarship recipient, including the Meadowmount School of Music, Music@Menlo, Orford Music Festival, Domaine-Forget, and the Aspen Music Festival. In her free time, Jaime loves exploring new coffee shops and finding the best donuts in the city.
Ms. An joined the BSO as their Assistant Principal Cellist in 2023.
