What is the BSO Endowment Trust?
A robust endowment enables the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to be truly secure, nimble, and innovative. Established in 2006 as a separate legal 501(c)(3) organization, the Baltimore Symphony Endowment Trust holds the funds given to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to be invested in perpetuity, together with the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and the Cathedral Parking Garage.
The BSO’s most generous annual supporter, Glenmede currently serves as the investment manager for the Baltimore Symphony Endowment Trust to support an investment philosophy grounded in long-term growth coupled with a more proactive and flexible approach to asset management.
Endowed funds can be unrestricted, providing a self-sustaining resource that is used to meet current BSO priorities and exciting new opportunities as they arise, or can be designated for specific purposes, including:
- Chairs within the Orchestra
- Artistic and Administrative Positions
- Commissioning, Innovative Programming and Guest Artist Funds
- Education, Access, and Community Initiatives
- Physical Spaces
Endowment gifts can be made in a variety of ways, including outright contributions and by bequest.
